Your NPS account balance depends on two elements. The first is the voluntary annual contributions you make to your NPS account, and the second is the income from investing 40% of the maturity amount in annuities.
According to the NPStrust website, “The Statement of Transaction (SOT) for your NPS account shall be printed and dispatched to your registered address once in a year by the respective CRA. Soft copy shall also be provided periodically to your registered email id. However, subscribers can now download their Statement of Transaction online at any time.”
However, one can check the balance online anytime anywhere by visiting the respective CRA, NPS mobile app, using Umang, and through SMS.
How to check balance through NSDL website
Step 1: Visit the NSDL portal.
Step 2: To log in, use your PRAN as a user ID and your account password.
Step 3: Enter Captcha code to proceed.
Step 4: Click on “Holding Statement” option under the “Transaction Statement” section.
The screen will display information about your total balance.
How to check balance through NPS mobile app website
The Subscriber can download the NPS by Protean app to view the most recent account information that is available on the CRA website. After downloading, the subscriber must key in the PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) and PIN received with the PRAN welcome kit.
The total NPS holding value as of the date can be seen after successful login. It also displays the subscriber’s holdings in their Tier I and Tier II accounts. Details of the last five transactions are also displayed. The subscriber has access to profile information such the registered email address and mobile number. The application allows for the modification of these specifics.
How to check the NPS account balance by using the UMANG App
The NPS services are provided via the UMANG platform, which was developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e-Governance division.
Step 1: Download and open the UMANG app on your phone, then look for NPS services.
Step 2: Tap on your pertinent CRA after choosing the “NPS” option.
Step 3: Enter your Permanent Retirement Allotment Number (PRAN) and password on the following screen after selecting the “Current Holding” option.
Step 4: To access the details of your account balance, finally tap “Login.”
Using PRAN and a password, the subscriber can view the most recent account information. Subscribers have access to a variety of capabilities, including the ability to browse account details, alter scheme preferences, and donate to other subscribers’ accounts.

Initiate a missed call to 9212993399 using your NPS-registered mobile number. Your registered phone number will receive an SMS with information on your account balance.
